Northland Adventure Education and Therapy Center is an adventure-base therapy center in Jericho Vermont. They are dedicated to teaching individuals and families about wilderness safety and awareness, and also specialize in somatic healing through outdoor experiences such as outdoor exploration, hiking and canoeing in Vermont.
They seek to foster experiences that will expand an individual’s own awareness of self and empower them to be successful as a force of change in the world. Their ideas are instituted through the vehicles of alternative education schooling, domestic and international expedition-based travel, adventure-based somatic therapy, and industry development and promotion.
So, What is Adventure Education?
Adventure Education integrates kinesthetic, affective, and cognitive-based learning using experiential methods. What does this mean? Adventure education experts operate under the philosophy that youth and adults learn best through experience. Our programs foster these experiences to maximize learning and growth in a unique and fun way.
Northland Adventure offers daytime Vermont summer camps for beginner age groups 6-8, 8-10, 11-14, and an advanced group ages 13-16. It also offers 6-day programs for overnight camping in Vermont for boys or girls. Here, they teach beginner canoeing skills, swimming, crafts, and take the children on interactive nature tours. They also introduce aspects of environmental science, the study of ecosystems and natural history.
In the very near future they will also be opening registration on an international expedition to Africa for ages 18-25, called African Escape 2012.
