When it comes to playing pool, I like to go with the best – products that is. My neighbors and I play pool every Friday night like clockwork. It is what helps us wind down from a hard work week. As an avid pool player, I am always on the pulse of best quality pool tables. As long as I can remember, I have been a fan of the sports craft pool table. For one thing, the brand alone speaks for itself. There are a good number of pool table sizes and colors that cater to the home-based, billiard professional such as myself.

I like how Sports Craft pool tables meet my every expectation. They are very easy to put together and lasts a long time. Currently, I have two pool tables – a Sports Craft Yorkshire Billiard table and a 96” Easton Sportscraft Arcade Billiard table. Both are simply awesome. I like how the Yorkshire plays beautifully. The balls that accompanied the table had a wonderfully vivid color and it gives hours upon hours of non-stop fun. When I put it together it was easy to level, and the instructions were really easy to follow. Another perk of this table was that the price was right!

The Easton Sportscraft Arcade Billiard table has a very mod look which is what drew me to it. The solid rail system inlaid sited, plush cushioned rubber and the burgundy wool playing surface were all an epic plus for me. This one has the pro-style drop pockets that complement the 57” cues perfectly. It is a nine footer with dimensions that hit the 96 L x 54 w x 32 h range, but that is what adds to the attraction for me. This one was a winner under every Sports Craft pool table review out there. Near perfect in every way when it comes to family gaming. No doubt about it, it is a heavy table weighing an estimated 321 lbs. but once everything is assembled it adds that contemporary savoir faire to the family rec room.

Whenever I shop for new or replacement pool tables I make sure that I have the pool table sizes that would be aesthetically pleasing for my recreation room in the basement. Without that information, finding the right pool table would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Another thing that I do is comparative shop. I know that my basement is best suited for an 8 or 9 foot table. This is why I tend to go with Sports Craft. Not only do they make the sizes that I need but it also has the right look. A look that says modern yet fun is essential.

Once I find the right table then I do a bit of comparative shopping. You would be surprised how many places online have these tables for a rock solid price. So if you are looking for a 96 x 54 x 32 table then I highly recommend the Sports Craft 96’ Easton Arcade Billiard table. You just can’t go wrong.

When you are selecting a pool table lights the main thing you need to keep in mind is the overall lighting scheme of your pool room. It’s really best to have most of your light focused on the pool table, and much less lighting surrounding its immediate vicinity, at least while the table is in use. Bright lighting everywhere else in the room will wash out the shadowing around the object balls and pockets that normally help you analyze your aim and line of sight. This will distract you when you are shooting, and make it very difficult to focus. This is one of the reasons most pool halls are very dark except for their pool table lights.

I speak from experience when I point this out because two of my favorite pool halls had enormous bay windows along one wall of their establishments. During the daytime it was nearly impossible to play on the sunlight-blasted tables. I got blinded by reflections off of any cars outside, and the sunlight was often stronger than the table lights making it so tough to line up shots that I finally gave up playing at those halls during daylight hours. So yeah, make sure the lighting is brightest over your table.

Now, when you have a pool table and pool room designed for entertaining, it is imperative to have a light fixture that enhances the visual appeal of not only you pool table, but the whole room as well. You’re going to be spending a lot of time in this new dream room of yours, so you’d better not cheap-out with a poor design! Choosing stained glass pool table lights can help set the mood for an entire room, or a dark non-descript fixture might work better to let other features of the room design stand out pleasantly. Again, I speak with the bias of one who loves the game of pool and its ambiance. I’m strongly suggesting that you give careful attention to the complete design of your pool room. You really want to do justice to your pool table and the money you’ve spent on it.

There are many themes you can explore. The ambiance of a traditional pool hall, reminiscent of smoky taverns, booze and gambling, would make many a die-hard pool and billiard fan shriek in delight. Perhaps you’d like to class it up with some lighter colors, silver metal work, and sharp, simple lines. You might even choose a very clean but rugged design geared towards entertaining your children and their friends. Choose carefully, because you’ll be stuck with your choices for a long time to come.

No matter what theme you choose to follow, remember that there is an ideal height for hanging your pool table lights fixture. It will be slightly different for each one, but on average you’re expecting about forty inches from table-top to the bottom of the light fixture. Your main concern should be that the light bulbs don’t glare into your eyes. But you’ve also got to be sure that the fixture does not clunk you in the head every time you lean in to take a shot.

I mention this because in some basement pool rooms the ceiling is so low that creative options must be explored to get the lighting level correct. I know one person who forwent the fixture entirely, and instead installed some classy recessed lighting directly into his low basement ceiling in order to get things looking properly, and it turned out pretty good, actually. I’ve also had friends whose light fixture was much too large, and their ceiling much too low, and I spent many evenings earning bruises on my head while ducking awkwardly to get to my shots. Without the proper height, you will always be distracted by the ungainliness of your pool table light.
